The CDJ-400 deck is an ideal partner forthe DJM-400 mixer and together in my opinion provide the ultimate homeparty set-up. Compared to the older Pioneer CDJ's it does have a lotgoing for it and for the price you're getting almost all the featuresavailable on the more recent pro series CDJ's. Like all CDJ's theCDJ-400 has a similar control layout which gives you an easy transition between anyother of the CDJ models.

The CDJ-400 lets you play your MP3 collection off CD-R/RW discs, mass storage USB devices, like USB keys, external hard drives and portable media devices. Its just made as easy as it possibly could be. I have some 5 GIG USB sticks plus some sd memory cards and I can fit quite a bit on one of them alone so you can just imagine how much of your music collection you could fit on a 100 GIG or even a 500 GIG external drive, which I've not even managed to fill yet. I can also tell you when you've played a set somewhere on their CDJ's its so much easier after a gig putting a tiny USB stick in your pocket rather than having a sack of vinyles hanging round your neck.

The CDJ-400 also features the world’s 1st Scratch Jog Effects, with three scratch effects and a great new Loop Divide function thats a lot of fun to play with 5 jog illumination modes. Almost all of the button and slider functions can send MIDI data via USB output, so you can use the decks tocontrol external DJ software such as Virtual DJ, Serato Scratch Live or Traktor. You can also run Pioneers own MP3 mixing software that emulates a full Pioneer DJ setup on yourPC. It includes a waveform display with cue n looping and can convert CD input signals to MP3. I've not tried the latter but would like your reviews if you have.
